To align with overall corporate goals for lean manufacturing, this customer needed an employee break room adjacent to manufacturing workspace. Designed to be a break room as well as a space for team meetings, the room had to meet certain standards, including a clean and quiet room that is equipped with modern comforts.
Project Overview
Application: Employee break room inside manufacturing area.
Product: OmniFlex System with Steel Fire & Sound Wall Panels
Benefits Provided:
- Improved efficiency and reduced waste to align with company lean manufacturing goals.
- Support team building and employee morale with clean and quiet space.
The Challenge
- Create an employee break room adjacent to an interior, loud manufacturing environment.
- To meet building code requirements and integrate with the structure’s existing sprinkler system.
- To make a standardized design that is adaptable and modular.
The Solution
Focused on a planned workspace that minimizes down time and increases productivity, the architect on the project specified PortaFab’s Omniflex Fire & Sound panels. This four wall design offers a roomy, 9’ floor to ceiling format and easily incorporates two HVAC units and doors with louvers for enhanced temperature control and ventilation.
Built with a mineral wool core, these panels provide excellent insulation and have sound deadening properties that work well to block out unwanted, constant noise. They are reinforced with plywood which allows for a multitude of interior customization, including the ability for mounting monitors and like equipment.
The non-progressive construction of the OmniFlex panels allows for great modularity and easily integrated into the existing sprinkler system, meeting local building codes. This standardized design is very adaptable as manufacturing processes need to change, saving significant time and money.
