Pioneer Electronics, a world leader in electronics products for the car, home and business markets, needed to increase the product quality and product yield of their car stereos for clients like Lexus and Toyota. Because this project was motivated by an internal desire to improve quality and productivity and not related to the particular manufacturing specifications of a customer or the standards of some regulatory body, there were no specific cleanroom class guidelines to comply with.
Without specific design criteria, Pioneer Electronics was interested to hear what potential suppliers could offer. With so many different cleanroom wall systems and panel options available to them, PortaFab had the unique ability to determine the best products for Pioneer's goals and budget.
Based on Pioneer's needs, PortaFab supplied the electronics company with its OmniFlex 300 Plus, steel stud modular wall system. This is PortaFab's most cost effective and popular framing system for inplant offices. It features wall heights up to 18 feet and 3 inch thick load-bearing studs. While this system was not necessarily designed for cleanroom applications, it was the perfect fit for Pioneer.
"Unlike other cleanroom suppliers that have very limited systems and a couple of wall panels options, we have multiple systems and wall panels in both our cleanroom and inplant office lines that can be used for creating controlled environments." - Wayne McGee, President - PortaFab
Along with white steel wall panels, the OmniFlex 300 Plus provided the controlled environment essential to Pioneer's needs. The flow of particulate in the air was controlled and the wall systems excellent thermal insulation and sound deadening properties enabled those performing sound tests on acoustical products throughout the plant to be more efficient. By improving their process facilities, Pioneer's product yield and ROI increased.
