Fastening with Bolts and Self-Tapping Screws

Bolting or self-tapping screw fastening of Formacore panels provides for easy removal when required. Caution must be used when tightening to prevent possible dimpling panel face sheet by over tightening fasteners.

Recommendations when using self-tapping fasteners – use screw gun to cut fastener threads in extrusion or structural support only. Finish seating fastener by hand until head tight. Large diameter flat or sealing type washers on bolts or screws are used to aid in preventing dimpling face by over-torquing. Refer to Figure No. 4-5.
